Help with WinMX

I'm on my buddy's computer and we are having trouble getting WinMX to connect. It just keeps blinking yellow and never connects. We even tried downloading the older version and that still didnt fix anything. He also has a cable network connection set up within his house so i dont know if there is anything extra we need to set up or not. When it is testing for the internet connection it says that winmx was unable to make an outgoing TCP connection.

 

Operating System?
Firewall?
Windows Firewall?
What TCP port is it trying to use?
Do you use a router? what model?

First off, using an older version is maybe not the best solution. Winmx recently lauched version 3.53 perhaps that's wy your older version isn't connecting(unlikely however cause I'm still using v3.31 with no problem, but the same thing happened to me back when they upgraded from 2.6).

I agree with Nirvana_CN, most likely your Firewall/Router is causing the problem. Give us more info.

 

I have cable connection/Home network/hiding behind router in stealth mode.
Using WinMX v3.53, without changing router settings, the only way I'm able to connect is using "connection type" check "Make a secondary connection to network".
If I check "Make a primary connection to network" I am unable to connect.
you may want to restore Settings to default settings or uninstall & reinstall.
also In Settings "Outgoing TCP Connections/ check dont use a proxy server(connect directly)"

Firewall settings, ofcoarse you would have to allow connection.

 

I used MXPIE and it worked. WinMX is not supported by the originators anymore. New system needs MXPIE for old version
