Help with WinMx??

Hello Everyone,,,,,New Here,.,,,can you tell?? I have WinMx on my puter for my gilrs and just recently it won't connect. Also recently I installed something from my internet provider and I think that is when it stopped working. Now I am not good with puter's at all. You will have to ask questions and then tell me where to look.....-LOL Sorry!!! Like I said I'm not good with this. I sure would like to get this working for my girls,,,they just love the music. Thanks in advance.

 

Was it a firewall? By the way, you do realize that you can be sued for large sums of cash ofr downloading copyrighted songs from P2P networks withou the copyright owners permission.

 

There are places that you can download music (mp3s) without worrying about the copyright laws, since these are songs created from people like you and me. Not created from folks who make money from recording studios.....

I don't know if it was a firewall??? How do I know if I have a firewall??.....please remember I am an amateur puter user.

 

What operating system are you running? I.E. 95, 98, ME, windows 2000, XP.....

The program your ISP had you install. What was it called?

 

Do you remember what you installed?

If you can't remember what you installed, then do the following:

Click START, RUN, type in:"c:\program files" (press enter, yes with quotes)

next, move your mouse at near the top of the new windows, click on VIEW, then click on DETAILS.

Next, click on DATE MODIFIED, you will notice a little arrow pointing down. The most recent program you installed will be at the top. What does it say?

Note: Date Modified is just below address.

Thank You.........I went into that Freedom security and it allowed me to diable the firewall and I went back to winmx and it connected right away. Should I put that Firewall back on when my girls are done using winmx????

 

Yes! Though, see if you can allow WINMX exclusive rights. That way, in the future, you won't have to turn off the firewall.

No, I'm not familiar with Freedom firewalls.

 

Do a quick search, should come up with some info on Freedom firewall.

Freedom firewall is pretty invasive and can be a real pain to clean off the system once things go wrong with the firewall.
