hi everyone. I have tesltra adsl and they game me a speedtouch 6520 modem with a wireless netgear wg511v2 card. this worked ok for 12 months and then I did some p/c 'cleaning' and the mrvgina issue came up. followed your steps and its fixed (thanks!) but now have issues reloading drivers for the netgear card.

my question is this, I have a compaq notebook with centrino so how do I set up my notebook to find the speedtouch modem and use internal wireless instead of the netgear card?

Your internal wireless is probably a Broadcom card and may well be switched off.

Start by totally uninstalling the Netgear.
Then find your internal card in device manager
You use properties from here to set it up and enable it.
Finally, check for a physical switch on the laptop to switch the internal wireless on and off.
