I have a P4 that i just did a clean install of xp on and now it takes 5 minutes to boot up and apps load up really slow. I have cleaned up junk from the startup, cleaned the registry, checked the memory, updated drivers, bios, ect. scanned for virus and spyware with latest updates, and defragged. After it finishes booting up task mgr shows no apps running and cpu usage running at 8 to 11 percent. Any ideas? Thanks

    1. What anti-malware, firewall and such have you installed?
    2. You'll need to visit Microsoft Update after a reinstall.

You did update ZoneAlarm? New versions available as of yesterday. Important updates. If not you need to do that first - before doing anything else.
