    Can't figure this one out:
I'm helping the local Sheriff setup a 3 computer network on XP home. All 3 have internet (from router) but only one computer shows "My Network Places" and has access to both the other computers shared folders and printer. The other 2 dont have this even though I have run the Wizard from the Win xp disk on all 3. There are no error messages and the wizard finishes normally but no "My network Places" folder shows up- just internet
    Can anyone help??
    Thanks a lot

in run, type in \\ip of other computer
so if youre on compA and comB's ip is 192.168.0.5, type \\192.168.0.5 into run on compA.
    can you connect?

In the graphics properties control panel, under the desktop tab, click advanced settings, there should be an option to place a check mark for which icons you want displayed on the desktop (My Computer, My Documents, My Network Places, and Internet Explorer)

It's not that there is no shortcut- there, no connection or access to other computers or the net printer- just internet
