Help

When I switch the computer on it will not boot up,The screen says "no signal" I try to access safe mode by pressing F8 but get the following on the screen

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)windows\system32\drivers\KsecDD.sys

Any ideas? I understand very little about computers so simplicity is the answer with me???

 

Hold F8 when booting and try "Last known good configuration" and see if this works.

Edit: Sorry, do you get the message before the option screen for safe mode comes up?

 

Thanks Birdbath, however the safe mode does not work, all I can get is the error message. I can get a Dos command (flashing cursor) which I could type a command into if I knew which command!!

 

You could type CHKDSK and then hit ENTER if you have XP. This will check your drive for errors.

If you type HELP and hit ENTER you will get a list of commands and what they will do for you.

Sounds like you will have to do a repair install.

This is the driver for the Kernel Security Support Provider Interface and is a core system service. I would first suspect that it is corrupted or missing. You can download a copy from many places on the web and use the recovery console to copy it to the system files, or just do a repair install using your OS disc...
