help!!

hello, i hope i am doing this right. i hae a gateway mx3230 laptop. last night it was working ok, this morning i turned it on and it started to load, got to the very start where it usually just flashes a page that says something about press f1 for this or f11 for this and it then freezes and starts making a loud clicking noise!! if i push the esc button a few times it will finally load. but does this every time now. any help would be great. thanks, rickj
