Think you would rather post this in either "Software/Hardware" threads as this is the forum for "Folding Only" which is were we at Major Geeks use our "Spare CPU" cycles to help "Research"................That been said, "Welcome to Major Geeks", take your Time and browse a little, and I am sure you will figure out the "Thread" structure here.

    Hi there!

I moved your thread over to Software and changed the title to something more descriptive.

Luckily, I'm quite good with vegas :)

Okay, crossfade is where two video sources dissolve into each other. Under the hood, vegas will reduce the compositing level on one source whilst increasing the level on the other.

Crossfading in vegas is stupidly easy. Get two video sources on the same track and push them together so they overlap. Vegas will then treat that as a crossfade. Voila!

    Welcome to Major Geeks ;) ;) ;)

Crossfade also applies to audio tracks. In fact DJs and radio presenters have dedicated 'crossfaders' to smoothly wind down one track and wind up another at the same time.

This technique is useful in video editing for several reasons.

For the video track it automatically maintains the sync signals through a transition from one camera or source to another so the editor doesn't have to think about this.

For the audio track it allows for instance an orderly transition from intro music to narrative or voiceover.

Incidentally for video editing you will find the best approach is to set the audio track first, than cut the video to fit. This is much much easier than doing it the other way round and avoids many synchronisatuion problems..

    Hope this helps
