help

I'm having a java problem but i haven't been able to find it by searching yet,if this post is in the wrong place i'm sorry it all started a week or two ago when i couldn't load yahoo games i downloaded the latest sun java and removed all the others from my control panel add/remove programs and that didn't work so i deleted the new one too everything seemed to be okay till last night when my hubby attempted to update his lowrance map create or gdm16 the installer told him he needed java so he redownloaded it but halfway through the install it tells him no JRE is found on this system, and then a suitable JVM could not be found-to select its java.exe file but this cant be found either??? he's about ready to beat it with a maul please assist

 

So nothing shows under your add/remove programs list related to Java?

When he tried to install java he may have already been running his lowrance
software that could cause a conflict.

When the lowrance was installed it probably had an old path to the old java pkg and when you installed the new one it could not find it.

Try this .... uninstall all lowrance software(not maps you have made just the programs)
uninstall all java in add/remove

reboot

Install Java again
http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

install lowrance again and everything should work fine(crosses his fingers--

okay i'm an idiot i admit it... i told him what you said and he said he wasn't running any of his lowrance programs,he was attempting to download and install an update to his gps to his mmc card... it was the install shield wizard that couldn't find a jre on this system a box popped up and i entered java.exe in the find field and away it went...but now that i have redownloaded the java it immediately told me the jre could not be loaded?? mostly it affects my getting on yahoo games to play literati i had error hs_err_pid288 a while back now i get either the jre could not be loaded or several virtual machines running in the same process caused an error when i close the window i get an iexplore.exe application errors the instruction "0x00000000"referenced memory at "0x00000000". the memory could not be read or one just like it with diff #s or written instead of read.......aaaahhhhrrrrgggg
