Help

I,ve rebboterd my dell laptop as it was really slow, and got all the required cd's form dell (operating system and drivers and utilities). Have downladed the drivers and utilities cd, but in the device manager, there are unknow devices, such as the ethernet controller, PCI Modem and others. I cannot connect to the internet without them. How do I get these devices as they shouyld be on the cd

Welcome to MajorGeeks! Dell.com has the drivers you need. Try searching there. If you can't find them, post the exact model of your laptop and I will see if I can find them.

If your laptop has the service tag on it, it will be easier to find your drivers.

As Fred said above, we'll need the model of the laptop, or the service tag number. If for some reason these numbers are unavailable (I can't imagine why but I guess it's possible), use the following steps to attach an Everest report to a future post:

Thanks for the replies. I am not sure what drtivers they are on dell.com as they don't seem to have the same name. The model is an Inspiron 6000, and service tag G82TW1J.

Also, I cannot connect my laptop to the internet, I'm using aother pc, so how could I download these drivers?

Download the Chipset driver (there is one) and the network drivers (there are 4). Copy those to a CD and install from there. You may have to try several of the network drivers to find the one that works.
