Help

Hi everyone ! I cant seem to keep my old pc connected to my router I am using a Belkin USB wireless adapter. It worked fine for a long time but now every time I log off or the PC goes to sleep it wont connect again. I have to run repair this connection to get it back and it gives an error message about not clearing the DNS cache. Read something about a possible malware hijack. Is this it (maybe) and how to fix it? It is really frustrating to take so long to get online.:-o

It is XP and a very old HP Pavillion:-o

Try this:

1. Click Start > Run, enter services.msc, double-click DNS Client in the list, set its start-up type to Automatic, click the Start button, click Ok, close the Services list.

2. Now open a command prompt and enter ipconfig /flushdns.

3. Reboot and see if your symptoms change.

 

Is windows managing the wireless or is a Belkin application managing the wireless?

When the system wakes from sleep does either windows wireless manager or the Belkin application show the device as disconnected?
