Help!!!

Hi,I didn't know where to post this so I guess here is better then nowhere heh! any ways Im having a serious problem!! I am definetly not computer smart I keep getting this dumb error when I log on my computer it says <Explorer has caused an error in ~8976707892.TMP Explorer will now close...Bleh every single time! it also says if you continue to experience this problem try restarting your computer..DUH I did 100 times If you do click close it closes to this dumb blue screen and I have to restart my comp again my comp is a dumb Dell window me genuineintel pentium(r) 3 proc 511 omb r sys res 48% fee 32 bit files/virt memory..I also have spywareblaster and spybot running I did the basic clean-up BAH someone help me

 

it's a temp file that's causing problems. Try clearing your IE cache and seeing if that solves the problem.

 

Here is what I have done without any success first I thought It was a trojan, so I disable system restore.went to control panel>system>performance>file system>troubleshooting>check the box beside disable system restore>apply>ok. Then I went to control panel>internet options:
clear history>yes
delete files>ok
delete cookies>ok
settings>view files, if there>edit>select all>file>delete.

Ran a full system scan with an antivirus ran spybot and spywareblaster so all files have been cleared I also tried reinstalling winme a couple times and removed all unused programs!! Dude don't get a Dell!..any other sugestions?

Oh just to let you know the TMP file that Explorer is causing the error on is a windows tmp file # ~8976707892.TMP I tried to delete it and it says I can't because it's being used by windows! ARGH I at least thought if i reinstalled winme it would fix it but NOOO why would it be an easy fix? duh

Right now, I want you to go to Windows Update and download the latest version of Internet Explorer. You're on 5.5 and it has holes that some of the jackers you have exploit.

ok but the problem with trying to download this new version and i've tried is that it keeps saying you have a previous verison pending reboot and aborts and thats the error that says reboot your comp if this persists..this little devil will not let me download the newer version!! now what? also.. I went in and looked up all the meanings to the programs that load on startup I put a stop to alot of them !! <Winka> hmm im working on it will keep you posted on that one!

ok I downloaded the programs and im gonna go in safe mode and do that heh brb!

 

OK OK so far so good ..no more errors one thing I should put out there if it's not already out! First of all I would just like to thank this website for being here!! second of all I just want to say AOL sux bleh! then I wanna say that while in safe mode I took a chance and deleted WinKA.exe some weird program I found in startup and so far so good ... all the programs has definetly helped my computer although im sure it's not perfect I can say I no longer have any Explorer has caused an error in tmp file and now I will go download the new explorer 6.0 Bah I like this website hmm also anyone who is working on any issues from the hijack log I'll still be checking this site for any additional info on whatever

 

Even after I did that it said pending reboot although I didn't get the error box so this is how I fixed it...at first I went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

Deleted any PendingFileRenameOperations values in this key but that didn't do it so then I went and did this thingy Click Start, click Find (or Search), and then click Files or Folders.
In the Named box, type wininit.ini.
In the Look in box, click Local Hard Drives.
Click Find Now.
Right-click the Wininit.ini file, and then click Rename.
Type Wininit.nin, and then press ENTER.
Close the Find window.and guess what wala I got IE6 to finally install!!..working out the bugs eh heh!!
