It sounds like your disk is going bad. Back up all of your important data IMMEDIATELY. If your HP is still under warranty, then you'll need to contact them for a drive replacement.

Otherwise you'll have to replace the drive or have a shop do it for you.

You may want to get a new hard drive back up your data, to be safe. Or back up your data on another type of media.

Do you hear any scratching or clunking noises coming frrom the Hard drive?

No noise, none of that. How can the bloody disk be going bad already? Its just over a year old. There is no way to get the scan disk to run? Argh I can NOT afford another computer. :(

If it is only one year old then it may be under warranty, contact the manufacturer of the system.

Well, then you can buy a new hard drive w/o having to buy a new computer.
Hard drives generally cost a minimum of $65 dollars and the price goes up from there. If you do not know anything about computer hardware, you should take it to a local shop or something.

that's what we're trying to say. You will most likely need to replace your hard drive. So don't waste time. Backup your stuff!!!!

oh thats peachy. OK I dont know how to backup a computer with this big of hard drive. Only thing Ive ever backed up before took 4 floppy disks. How do I proceed?

You probably won't be able to get the whole hard drive backed up. You should just get all your essential work files and personal files and put them on a CD, floppy or a thumb drive if you have one.

Just a thought, maybe the hard drive manufacturer's warranty is longer than 12 month's. Worth a try. Bazza

But if the HD came with the system, then it is tied down to the warranty of the pc manufacturer, the manufacturer of the hd will know this by the serial number.

Did you make sure you had all everything else shut down before running your pcdoctor and scans? (I know it's kind of elementary, but a LOT of people who use computers all the time don't know they have to do that.)
