My computer screen is too dark, so I tried maximizing the brightness with the buttons on the monitor. It is as high as it can go, but the screen is still not bright enough! I noticed on windows 98 you can adjust the brightness of the monitor under display properties. Why doesnt XP have a way of doing this? Is there another way to configure it? I am having trouble with viewing pictures and playing some games. Help would be very appreciated.

 

do you have a video card if so go in to its settings and you should be able to ajust it there

 

I dont have an actual video card, just a device called "SIS 650.." how do I configure that?

 

Go into the SIS utility tray and you can change colour, brightness etc from there.

 

what about the gamma level? I'm not sure where you would set that in your config, but that affects the brigthness as well

 

how do I get to the SIS utility tray? I tried finding a way of configuring it under properties but there was no option for brightness...

 

Go to display properties/ settings/ advanced then you should see a utility manager tab or go to start then programs, there should be something with SIS and a few numbers. If it isn't there then maybe you havn't installed your video drivers. If you're certain you're using a 650 chipset then go to the SIS website and download the driver from there, the latest one is VGA3. It's in the IGP graphics section. The link is below.
