i have taken this card from a p1 that someone gave me, i wnderd if any one would be able to tell me what it is!, im sorry its a bad pic but im sre one of u geeks must know what it is. btw it has no ports, its just a card

If it has no (external) ports, then it is most likely a FDD or HDD controller. Are there any ports on the card itself?

hdd and fdd controllers control your Floppy drives and Hard drives. Some expansion cards allow you to install extra IDE drives such as hard drives when your primary cables are full.

 

oh, so its a hdd pr a fdd, are these only used on older computers, or are they still used now?

Sorry, I was answering your post asking what the fdd and hdd controllers where.

It is hard to tell what the card maybe from the picture. You said there were no connection points on the card at all which makes it even more difficult.

Is there any writing such as a part number, manufacturer, etc... any where on the card?

I noticed a black spot on the left side of the picture, does that have any pins on it??

 

no the only pins that are on the card are the gold ones on the bottom, it has NO ports what-so-ever and its writing has all faded away(coz its old)
is the fdd or hdd the only possibilities it could be

i once heard that some older computers had cards for processors, i wonderd if it could be that but i have been told that this is not true, any ideas ?

 

look for an FCC ID on the card. You may be able to look it up with that.

 

Are you asking because you need to use it for something, or is it just out of curiosity?

If it's that old...just throw it out.
