Help!!

Hi there. Last night, like an idiot, I spilled some wine onto the keyboard of my lap top (it spilled right around the spacebar and surrounding areas). Now, of course, only some of the keys will work. Is there anything I can do or is this something that the pros need to handle? Any ideas cost wise how much this would be to correct? Thanks for your help

if the instructions tell you how to take out your keyboard you might try cleaning it

you might try googling for some instructions on how to do it, if they don't

 

Not a huge deal as long as just some of the key's aren't working. IF absolutely any other part of the computer starts messing up (i.e. sound stops working, PCI slots no longer work ect. ect.) then you have larger problems on your hand. But it sounds like just the keys were affected my g/f did a similar thing and this was all we had to do:

1) Find out how to remove your keyboard (should be screws on the bottom of the laptop labeled with K's or something to denote keyboard screw) in any case of question consult your computer manufacturers website or user manual.

2) You can try cleaning the keys once the keyboard's out as was previously suggested however, don't expect much from that.

If you tried to clean the keys out, plugged it back in and it still doesn't work then get the specs on your laptop model and which keyboard it uses and then buy a new keyboard from your computers manufactuer. Once you get it take out the bad keyboard and put the new one in.

Total cost to do this yourself: approx. 40 bucks

Total cost if you had a Dell and sent it in to have it done: approx 100+ bucks

It's really not a hard procedure AT ALL in a Dell it consists of removing TWO plugs (plus the screws).... very easy. Hope that helps!
