Can any one tell me what is up with my system
It blue screens and says and tells me to look at any new software for probs but I have not installed any. Lately it is bsod and saying IRQL Not Less or Equal
Also when I run any virus prog it reboots its self and when I send the error report to Microsoft it first says it was caused by a graphics card driver which I updated and now when it does it its just saying error caused by a device driver. How do I tell which one it is. this also happens sometimes when I download videos? Or Evan just playing music through win media player
I was told it maybe my hard drive which is pumped
Any help would be much appreciated

IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL is usually related to a memory problem!! Try running MEMTEST 86+....I've attatched it below.

Unzip it...put a floppy in the floppy drive...double click the memtest folder then double click the "install.bat" file...when the DOS window pops up it will ask you the target drive...type "A" (without the quotes) and it will proceed to make a bootable floppy!! Then restart, enter the bios and set the system to boot from a floppy first, then save and exit the bios and when it restarts it will boot from the floppy you made and the testing will automatically begin!!

Typically speaking...you want it to run 3 or 4 passes (hopefully without any errors)!!

This will test your memory, and if there are any errors...then odds are the memory is bad!! What is the brand of your memory, and is it old??

If the Graphics Drivers are the issue this may take care of it for you.

Download and install Driver Cleaner Professional 1.1

    Follow the Instructions Below:

    1. Unplug nic card or modem from net or disconnect.

    2. Remove the video driver from add/remove programs then remove the control panel from add/remove programs.

    3. Reboot into safe mode (F8 during boot up).

    4. On reboot into safe mode WinXP SP1/SP2 will auto detect and install drivers. Just let it do its thing. If you can cancel out of the auto install hardware wizard then do steps 6-10. If you can NOT cancel out of auto detect wizard then do steps 5-10.

    5. Navigate to device manager->display adapter->uninstall and/or remove the display adapter but do not reboot.

    6. Disable any AntiVirus Software (If you don't disable is than it could give trouble).

    7. Run Cab Cleaner (not needed, but recommended).

    8. Run Driver Cleaner.

    9. Empty recycle bin and reboot.

    10. Install the new drivers and control panel item.

Also, having the minidump file can be helpful... c:\windows\minidump.

There are tools out there to really figure out what cause this problem.

    Temprory solution possible

    Quoting http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/WinXP/Q_20361745.html

Corrupted page file due to improper shut down or BSOD. In XP, Right-click on “My computer”, select “Properties”. Then click the “Advanced” tab, click “Settings” in the “Performance” area and another window will appear. Click the “Advanced” tab. In the “Virtual Memory” section click “Change” button. If you have a custom setting write these numbers down, then tick the “No Page File” button. Click ok-ok-ok. Then reboot the system. Repeat the process except correct the window to reflect your original settings reboot again. Sometimes this will temporarily correct the error.

    End of quote

Reformat and reinstall is also an option. But a new hardisk may be called for.

CPU, MoBo, or RAM. Your RAM passed a memtest, so that would make either the CPU or MoBo the culprit.

You could put the CPU in another board.

Is this a new build or was it running good for awhile and then started shooting craps???

If it is a new build...you might need to update the bios, in order to possibly fix a compatibility problem!!

I have had similar issues with my old computer. I even ran memtest86+, quicktech, and 3 other memory checking programs. They all worked perfectly. What did I do to fix the problem?

I put my memory in another computer and had no problems. Then I decided, maybe it has something to do with the memory speed. Being that the memory was PC2700, I decided to install PC3200. Since then, I have had no problems at all.

Anyway, that is my suggestion. Try different memory. Keep the receipts....

It happens when I run any av scan and also when I play music or videos always bsod each time giving me a different error code
Paged file in non paged area
    Irq not less or equal
And a few others that I cant remember.

I replaced the hard drive with a Barracuda st320011a and the system will only recognise it as a secondary slave and when I try to install xp on to it I will get up to the starting to format and then bsod
Can this have anything to do with my virtual mem settings? I am running 256mb ddr ram and the custom settings for my vm are
    Im 384
    Max 768

VM settings cannot prevent you from installing xp.
Besides your vm settings were fine.
I think the problem is drivers,so a fresh install of xp should fix it.
The ntldr error you are getting maybe due to your new harddrive not being configured properly.

The ntldr error was sorted when I reinstalled xp on to my old hard drive. But after running powermax test I found this drive to be faulty now I can’t install xp onto my new drive as it is bsod when it gets to format it
