Hi I already have 512MB DDR2 SDRAM at 400MHz..and i am going to add another 512MB into my computer..my question is do i have to install another cooling fan into my computer. My computer is a dell 4700 and i just got it so i think i just have a basic fan. Thanks

No not at all,the cdrom makes more heat than the ram, what you do need to make sure of is the mem is the same speed, the numbers on the memory will look like this 3-3-3-8,all these number must be the same as your old memory for maximum compatibility,if at all possible buy the same brand of memory, different speeds and brands will work together but in alot of cases cause problems, this gives you more chance of avoiding this incompatibility. ;)

PS my bad  those numbers are the called the latencies, which you would like to have the same, ofcourse the speed is 400mhz.

When considering if you need additional fans, you should determin if your PC is running on the hot side.
    What's your Temp's?
Do you have good air flow thru your case?
Lot's of off the shelf PC's arn't very generous in the fan department.
Cooler is Better but not necessarily required.

As Rikky said more memory should not create any additional heat.
The only exception is some memory when overclocked & sometimes extra voltage added can generate some heat.
