Help!

if i turn on my computer and it makes a high pitch beep sound then repeats the beep over and over and no single in going through to the monitor, what needs to be fixed? I thought it was the monitor, but i tried that on another computer and it worked so now im begging for someone who might know what needs to be replaced. Thanks a bunch.

 

is it a continual beep which doesn't stop, or a numbered series of beeps. If its a series of beeps can you tell us how many there are?

Also, can you give us some details about your computer, ie brand of computer if bought from a store, brand of motherboard would be great or even what type of BIOS it uses ie AMI, AWARD, PHOENIX

 

Umm well I think it just keeps beeping, I counted somewhere up to 60, and it still didn't stop. I guess it could be one beep repeated, it beeps for approx. 1 sec. then is silent for 1 sec. and so on. The computer is a Sony Viao. Also it won't turn off when I hit the power switch

 

Depending on the bios the notebook has the beeps can mean different things,enter your model number at this link,it will have have the description of problem based on the beep codes
