Help?

    I turned on my PC yesterday (desktop) and the screen shows nothing but a black picture. I am wondering wth is going on so I push the button on then i wait 30 seconds and on. nope still black picture, help?

    FYI: Athlon XP 2400+
    512MB DDR RAM
    60GB HDD
    CDRW/DVDROM
    64mb 8x AGP card
    17inch CRT

    yes everything but no picture even though everything is connected right

    What do you mean by black picture? The wallpaper is black? The monitor turns on but stays black? The monitor doesn't turn on at all?

    Does the little light on the monitor go from orange to green?

    Double check and make sure no wires are loose on the motherboard and that they are firmly on the pins.

    Additional questions ..... do you get any post beeps? Have you tried another vidoe card? Have you tried another monitor, or put that monitor on another 'puter to check that it's not the problem.
