Ok, I borrowed a older Gateway "SOLO" laptop to take notes for some equipment my company has purchased. The person I got it from bought it off of E-Bay and it may have had 98' loaded, but they loaded XP To make it short, I updated this Word file with the notes I took every day when i got back to the hotel, flew home, and wanted to transfer the file to a floppy, and print them from my computer. No Go. Says I have to format the disks and when i do it says it doesn't work (or something like that). I think it may have to do with the way the XP hard drive is formatted (FAT?) but I am completely clueless as you may have already figured out. Any ideas because I'm not losing these notes... Thanks in advance..

Welcome .....as a workaround ...can you e-mail the notes to yourself (as in set up a yahoo mail ...send to that address then transfer / forward to your regular mail) ....
Have you tried a different floopy ....not the stabilest medium ....try going to device manager, uninstall the floppy and reboot .....it will reinstall the floppy and may work ....report back.:)

See if it will format in safe mode.
