After installing a new hard drive, I'm once again having Administrator Rights problems.
    Please read; http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=169331

I tried to write photos on a CD and I am getting the following message, "You do not have permission to save in this directory. See the administrator to obtain permission"

I dont know what to do because I am the adminstrator and I own my ThinkPad R51E laptop and is still under warranty.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered on the board.
    K~

    Good morning chaimjm!

Thanks for replying! I am using Windows XP Pro. It's kinda strange, as it does not let me use some of my programs such as Sonic Multimedia Works and CompuPic. I get the prompt .... "You do not have permission to save in this directory. See the administrator to obtain permission"

After I installed the new hard drive it automatically made an Administrator position, afterward I submitted myself by using my name as the Administrator. Everything was working well until I did some Windows Updates that I have set to automatically do.

I hope you or someone may have some knowledge to solve this problem.

Once again, thank you for the reply.
    K~

What did you do to get windows on the new HDD. Did you clone the old Windows to the new HDD, or did you use your recovery disks with it?

    Hi Senlis;1231706,
I used the recovery disk that came with my IBM ThinkPad R51E. My laptop is still under warranty, I have had this problem before on the 40GB hard drive I replaced. There is definitely a glitch somewhere, but I have no idea what to do.
I also want to thank you for replying to my post and any possible help that you may offer.
    Sincerely,
    K~

It sounds like it is a problem with IBM's recovery disk, like they didn't make it work in a way that makes sense. I would try reloading windows with a generic Windows disk. Make sure when you do to delete all partitions prior to installing to make sure no viruses are transferred over.
