Hewlette Packard PSC 1200 All In One trouble

I have inherited my mothers HP 1210 PSC All-In-One. I've installed it successfully but it will not print. I get an error:
System Error
the document cannot be prined due to a system error.

Try printing it again. If unsuccessful, restart windows and try again.

I am running PC tools firwall and tried to add all on the HP .exe files to the apps list, and added the ports that HP recommends on their website.

I'm stumped, and tired from work. If anyone has a solution, I would love to know what is going on.

Need to know your operating system and service pack #.

First thing I'd try would be to temporarily disable your firewall completely, see if your symptoms change.

I'm assuming this is a USB device? You might try another port, and make sure there are no related Windows services that may be disabled.

I disabled the firewall with no change.
When installing the software pack and driver, I had to fix the registry for the RPC. It began to work. I disabled and enabled the driver. I set the port rules and application rules in PC tools to try and allow function. I have no other cable to try the other com ports with. One site I read through had me check the dependancies for some of the relaed services. As for any other services, you will have to tell me what and where to check. I had a run in with smitfraud nearly a year ago, so I don't know what is intact for certain with regaurds to the registry.

Couple of quickies you might try: visit Black Viper's 32-bit Services list or the 64-bit list, and compare what he's got to your services (click Start, Run, type 'services.msc' (sans quotes), enter) - something might stand out.

You might also consider Microsoft's Corrupt Registry fix, especially if you think the smitfraud damaged your registry.

FIXED!!!! DEP had me shut down.
