Its the origaonal version of microsoft Vitual machine.

thast what you need if you cant view java aplets.
Problem was caused by the good people at sun who took microsoft to court saying they had to make windows more compatable with their version of java and that microsoft were corner-ing the market.
well they won and as a result microsoft were no longer alowed to make a full working version of the virtual machine available, there only alowed to make updates.
they got around this by suplying virtual machine with sp1 for the xp, how ever sp1 has now become sp1a and Guess what they left out???
    thats right the virtual machine,

So what i hear you cry Obviously the good people at sun have made a version that will install

Well actualy no they havent. theres is install on demand and that also means its a update. So its a no win situation.
If you format your pc theres 99.999999999% chance youl never see another java based anything.

    Well that was untill now.

    Heres the url.

    http://download.support.safetec.net/msjavx86/msjavx86.exe

Install this then its possible to use the updates from windows.
And do me a favour please
Dont have anything to dowith the people who caused this whole mess in the 1st place. (sun)

sorry but thats the truth as far as i know . I have spent ages tracking down a version that will install and it was the origanal from microsoft,
i have been to a number of difrent java related sites and they all seem to feel that this is the case

i appologize in advance if i am found to be incorrect about this but if you knew how much trouble it was to find this i think you would beleve me.
and it is the good people at sun who prevented microsoft making there virtual machine available as a full instalation download,
Please read in to the matter futher if you wish and inform me on your findings.

I have had enough of researching the subject lol :)

Go to the link I provided, I editted my last post.

Download the installer for Sun java.

It does work, no research required ;)

And Sun didn't make it so MS couldn't provide their jvm anymore, the Justice department did :D

Edit: Use what version you like best.

But I assure you, the Sun version does work.

ah but the sun version will not work with iis N please dont scroll away my findings

    Scroll away what?

I read your post, its half correct and half wrong.

The sun version will not work with what? IIS?

What does IIS have to do with a JVM?

    What does N stand for?

I tip my hat for bringing the good information here. I frown on the incorrect stuff. I am trying to inform you, so you are the better for it.

    Nothing wrong with that, right?

The Sun version works with IE, Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox, all the IE based browsers and IIRC, Opera.

last time i bother going out of my way to give people usefull information i can tell you, if you bother to look in to the matter youl see what I mean
Why start questioning the way some one types just becous it is not the conventional way

    D'n'b means drum n bass
So obvilously N is a abriviation of and when use in the same context,
    which is what i did
Dont bother replying i wont be coming back to this forum

    Works for me.

People who are to damn stubborn to learn and like to spread false info to mislead others have no place here anyway. Its funny that all I did was correct what was incorrect and you refused to comprehend it.

Some people need to get a clue.

OK - I don't care about the argument -- but I was having problems with IE loading pages correctly so I finally downloaded Netscape (and with that came the SUN javascript program). So now I have microsoft VM and Sun -- I have made other fixes to IE and it's working properly so I'm going back to that (I wasn't going to uninstall anything from Netscape, just let it sit there in case I needed it again).

Is this going to cause any problem? Are all the components compatable and running together? I have IE6 and Windows 98.

    guys!

You guys are so funny with your sports analogies...:p

Actually, I just went to a few pages and had the old page loaded with yellow triangle and "done, with error" show up again in the bottom left corner -- that's what was happening constantly before and what drew me to this site seeking the collective brain power found here.

So...if it keeps happening I'll go back to Netscape (it just seemed to be slow -- but can it really be any slower than IE -- isn't that dependent on my dial up connection?)

Some browsers render pages faster, but for the most part, its your connection that makes the bigger difference. I tweaked firefox a whole bunch and now its slower than IE ;) Still not sure how that happened.

pegg, that error you see, does it happen when you disable third party browser extensions?

You can find that option under Internet Options, Advanced.

Under the Browsing heading, uncheck enable third party browser extensions.

Yes, I already have had that unchecked and it doesn't matter. Now, I don't have that error show up in Netscape, just IE. I originally posted this problem in Software, "Am I Crying in the Wilderness, IE Error on page" on Feb. 15 if you want to look at what we did. I never really fixed the problem because I sometimes use IE and every once in awhile the error message still shows up.-- Please read my new thread titled "what gives with posting problem" because I am really confused....

I certainly don't wanna jump on anyone, however it was a useful thread for me. I have been having javascript problems for days now, and came here for help figuring it out. The situation consists of many different things. Javascript commands wont work, ie... popup window to confirm a delete on yabb board. I cannot use java buttons on websites. System restore is nothing but a white screen, no buttons. Same with Norton.. I have deleted all programs added since the problem. Redownloaded Sun java. the MS VM was just not on my machine anymore, but this thread fixed that. But, still no luck with either. But, I really wanted to say that even if it was half wrong, it was still half right, and I have the MS VM back.... Now, on with my reading to find a fix for this mess I have....
Oh, thanks for reading, and I love the site.

    Re: dflw.2ya.com

In truth, this thread is completely wrong.

I'm glad that your problem was fixed, but please understand this.

Javascript and Java are mutually exclusive.

Sun did not modify javascript abilities on your computer, nor did removing the MS JVM.

Something reregistered jscript.dll on your computer, and thats what fixed it, most likely.

Glad to see you got your problem sorted ;)

Of all things, I searched and searched for 3 days to figure out why I was having the javascript issues as well as a proxy setting problem. I read every post on here about it, and on other boards. Ready for this? under the LAN settings I kept reading to make sure it was set for auto. But, I'm not running on a LAN, so I just unchecked everything in that folder, and now IE works like it is supposed to. My main reason for posting this reply is just in case someone else is having the same problem. So if you are not using a LAN, make sure that all of the boxes are unchecked. That is all....for now.....
