    Hi Everyone!!!

Two days ago I reprogrammed my computer because I had caught a bad virus and that was the only way for me to get rid of it. And after I programmed it I havent been able to get a connection and I dont know if I am doing something wrong. My set up goes like this. My parents computer(main comp) is downstairs and runs through a router and I am using a wireless router that is connected to theres and for me to connect to it I am using D-Link. Well I installed the drivers for D-Link and in the bottom right corner its telling me that I am not connected. Does anyone know or can give me some hints to help me out with my problem if you do please e-mail me back at thank you so much I will greatly appreciate this.

    Thanks Again,
    CJ

Wireless routers can be tricky. If your using Windows to detect, try using the D-Link software to connect. Can you see the router, if so, click it and choose connect via the tray icon. Also, posting your email publicly will get you lots of spam and is sort of pointless in forums, so I removed it from your post :)

    Need help please!!

    Hi Everyone,

I posted a forum a couple days ago about my problem. I am having trouble with my computer that I reprogrammed because my sister got a virus on it and I tried using lots of different virus scans for about a week and they wouldnt get rid of it. So I re-programmed my computer and now I have ran into two major problems. One is that I am not able to connect to the internet still and I have no idea why? I set up a LAN connection because I am using a wireless router that is connected to my parents main router downstairs. I am also using D-Link to connect to that router and installed all of its drivers but am still having problems. Major Attitude if you are reading this thanks for the reply I appreciate your help, I am still having trouble though. And I am not big with computers so if anyone has a suggestion please let me know but try and explain it to me very simple if you can it will help a lot. Another problem now that I am facing is that my computer keeps restarting on its own before it gets to the Windows screen that then takes me to where it was "Windows will start normally in" and starts counting down and then when it gets to the end it will restart again. Does that have to do with my Power Supply? Does anyone have a suggestions please reply back, thank you all so much.

You may need the WEP or WPA key to connect. It's like a password for the router that allows only people who know the key to connect (so neighbors and people on the street can't "share" your connection). Ask your folks for the key. If it's lost or forgotten, you may have to 'reset' the router. Check the manual for the router for the reset button location and follow the steps in the manual for setting up a new WEP key. All else fails, visit dlink.com and get the manual from them as a .pdf download. It'll be free.

    Points to check.

    1. Has your router been given an SSID other than the default one and are you using that with your wireless card.
    2. Check if any encrytion is enabled (as already stated)
    3. Has the router been pre-configured to accept only selected MAC addresses.

Are you using the wireless card manufacturers driver or XP's (if you are using that o/s) ZWC (Zero wireless configuration). If both are 'engaged' this will cause a driver clash.

Apologies for only offering general advise but the info which you have provided is not specific in any way.

    Good Luck
