Hey... is "SpywareGuard" actually DOING anything?

Hi, folks!!

I've just joined the forums in an effor to glean info about all manner of PC things, but thought I'd start out with a spyware question.
I've got SpywareGuard installed on the PC, but it seems that since I've downloaded it (and it is the 2.2 version) that there hasn't been a single update since I downloaded the install.
And, I check for updates on all my spyware, anti-virus, etc. EVERY DAY.
Is SpywareGuard a "gone burger" ?? I don't see the value of keeping something on the PC that doesn't have any updates.
And if anyone is wondering, I've had this on the PC for at least 4 months.
Just seems to be a waste of time, is all...
Any opinions/help/info, etc. will be enormously appreciated!!!!

Short answer: Spyware Guard is a scanner like A/V and it looks for patterns. It does not need constant updating.
