I have just put a new AD11 FIC mainboard into a case.I only have the keyboard & monitor attached. When I turn on the rear case power on switch the motherboard receives power. The CPU fan runs and the case front panel power on/off switch has no effect? Anybody got a clue as how I should approach this problem? Thx

looks like you didnt attach or attached incorrectly the plugs from the power/reset/hdd led/speaker incorrectly.

Thx 4 the prompt reply. Here's some more info. I disconnected ALL plugs from the mainboard except the ATX power plug. When I switched on the REAR case power switch, the mainboard had power seen by the CPU fan turning & another chip fan rotating. From this I conclude the power supply has been activated, but it shouldn't have been. I need to know more about the power on circuity?
Any help out there?? Thx again.

thats odd it seems that the circuit is complete when it should be open; can you rma this mobo?

Thx Omegamerc. I had purchased the board from Tiger Direct over a year ago but just didn't have time to fool around with the PC. I had another PC running OK so building another one took a back seat... so there's no possibility of RMA'ing the board. You're right. It appears if the power is always on no matter what. There has to be a wiring error or defect somewhere. I tried to find a way to contact the manufacture with no success thinking they might be able to help. I can get to their Web page OK but there is no indication on it how I might contact them. I quess the atitude is "once out the door, forget it!" So they don't provide a contact method. Oh well, that's the way it goes.

Is it possible that your completing the circuit w/a metal touching the mobo? when you put the mobo on its place did you put the brackets behind the mobo that give it that 1/4 inch clearance? maybe a live wire by any chance?

I appreciate U'r help. H's more info that I believe will answer your questions. I tried the mainboard in another case having a different power supply with the same results. The M/B is properly mounted on the chassis spacers clearing the chassis by about 1/4" as normally the case. Also I checked the POWER SWITCH connector plug that attaches to the M/B. It connects to the front case on/off switch. I checked the plug contacts for continuity with an ohmmeter. When the switch is pushed it closes monentarily & opens soon as it is released. One other thought. I know the computer shuts down via the win98 program. Also I know some computers will turn ON automatically when they receive a special telephone call. Is it possible that there is some parameter in the BIOS that is enabled causing the immediate turn on?? I don't have a clue how that works? You guys got any ideas???

Some mobos support Certain 'wake up's IE Wake up on lan/keyboard; give the bios a run through see if these options are enabled.

Thanks everybody for your help in trying to resolve this problem! I will check if the BIOS has an automatic turn on option. If I can remember correctly, I don't believe I saw any information on the screen when the computer was turned on. It is hard to tell if it was going through the boot process? But I'll give it a shot anyway, maybe that is the cause? Thx
