    Hi everybody,

Really hope you can guide me through my problem:

    Things go like this:
I'm currently having a problem with my 5742g Acer aspire laptop. It was bought 2 years ago and worked fine until a few days ago when it simply turned off by itself. After the laptop was powered on absolutely no display present it wasn't even powered. Up to this moment I have drawn the following conclusions:

-the laptop powers on fine fans are spinning HDD starting up
-the lights near the power button do not light at all (Hdd activity and Wireless state)
-the motherboard seems fine since the ethernet socket has working lights
-the display cables seem fine on the inside and nothing looks suspicious.

    Any ideas?

Hi my friend , welcome to MG's :major

You can give your model of your laptop ,at the bottom of the laptop there is a sticker which is informing you about that , you can switch an external monitor to your laptop ( pushing FN + F5 ) at the same time , even you can remove your battery and ac adapter holding the power bottom for a minute or so , after that you can put all back trying to start up your machine :wave
