Well, hello badger62, you sound like you are from the "Outback"! This sounds like a "mouse problem", not a mousepad problem, or am I missunderstanding you?

OK, does he have a wireless mouse? If so, try a different USB plug. I just ran into that with someone else... she had a mouse problem, and NO CAT! Go figure!

OK, first, try a different USB port, and see if that helps.. If not, maybe a new battery is in order. This is a start, so don't get discouraged if either doesn't work, but we must start somewhere..;)

Now, if that doesn't work, post your question in the Software section, as there are a LOT more eyes there, and they will get you on the right track. ;)

its a laptop with the touch pad...
how old is the laptop? maybe its just going bad. you could call the manufacturer to see if its still under warranty to maybe send it in for repair.

You need to give us more info....what brand? What model? Has he contacted their tech support? Is he running xp or vista? Does he have a problem if he uses a usb mouse?
