The problems I am experiencing is in when I am trying to play online poker abd run my tracking software as I do, the poker site I run is PokerStars and the tracking software is called pokertracker4. The fault I am experiencing is that my pc keeps locking up, my tables "white" over and the pc become unresponsive, absolutely nothing will work. The severity (of the failure/attack) however can differ in 1. length of time the pc will lock or 2. will result in the pc having to be switched off completely. I have tried various methods to try and find/fix my fault or find out if my pc is just not up to the job or if I need to replace any bits or indeed the entire system, please can you help guys this is becoming financially embarrassing as well as a right pain in the ***.

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

    Greetings, chillipops.

    Quick questions:

What browser are you using, and have you tried a different browser? Have you tried the browser with no add-ons to see if you receive the same symptoms? Do other sites exhibit the same symptoms? Are all drivers (especially video and network) up to date?

Be patient: this is a mostly volunteer forum so sometimes it takes a little time to get the ball rolling. I'm sure other MGs will jump in shortly.

I noted the Narra board spec.

Is this a stock Compaq/HP unit?

    Hi Caliban,

I'm sorry about that I was joking and in my desperation it may have came across badly, again sorry. I use Google Chrome and just four hours or so ago I was about to uninstall it and as my account is built into it try and run a bare bones version of it ! I found a way of signing out of my account and resetting it, doing it this way it looks like that could have been my problem, somewhere along the line the connection between my chrome account settings and skype has been knocking out timings or something to do with the setting's I needed left alone. I am still in the initial stages of testing if the fix is what I have been searching for........only time will tell, I will update as soon as I am more sure tyty

    Hi,

As far as I can tell the board was manufactured by ASUS and they were used in a HP laptop although this has never been in a laptop and isn't now, I have a desktop.

There was an old stock mobo in Compaq desktops coded Narra in the GeForce 6150, A8M2N models.

    That's why I asked.

Nice one:) it does say "Not hyper-threaded Board: ASUSTek Computer INC. NARRA3 3.02" on the Belarc advisor, does this board have a recognized fault and fix do you know ? or does this mean there is an approach or line or inquiry I can follow please?

    Hi Guys,

Unfortunately the fix I thought I had found has been wrong, the fault I am getting is in windows somewhere and somehow, it is just baffling me.:confused

I have now as I said tried disabling my google chrome account in the hope that it may be involved somehow but I have started the pc 6 or 7 times alone today
what happens as I watch the resorce monitor is that for no apparent reason there is an audible "Tunk" sound from inside the case the disk input/ouput % for the highest active time sometimes goes to 100% but sometimes the task monitor and the whole pc just locks with no response from the mouse or anything :tas:banghead:crap:hammer:crybaby:mad

I am at my wits end with it on the whole.

    This sounds like malware.

Search "Read & Run Me First"...

    Hi,

I have ran a totally new install after the "Read & Run Me First" steps I was told about failed in a way this has icolated the fault to hardware as I thought, as soon as the new install was completed my first thought was to install google chrome as my prefered browser, straight away even before I had accepted the option to download the pc made its usual noise telling me it was locking up for at least 20 seconds. this has got to be hardware I really am at my limit in as far as what to do next and I really appreciate your help guys I need to make a breakthrough lol :crybaby

Please ask me something and it may trigger something or send me along a line of enquirery, I will get there I have no choice.

    Good morning.

That sounds like the dreaded hard drive 'Click of Death' despite the earlier 'SMART Status: Healthy' indication. You might consider running SeaTools for Windows or booting to a SeaTools image to verify your drive's integrity.

    Hi guys,

I had to come back and tell you where I am and what steps I have taken. The first best news is that I have sorted one of the issues the "thunk" click noise and the windows freezing has been sorted by doing a complete re-install of windows 7, I have to say that in reading the forums on removing malware was what actually helped me figure out that my routine after an install is what was causing one of my problems. I usually install a set of programs after my install including my poker software and other smaller applications that I use for small jobs (some of them are shareware and some have adverts and other things attached) so what I was in the routine of installing these then running installation of the bits I didn't need, and then to finish off I was using a program called ccleaner, the well informed of you will now be reaching for the puke bucket. lol Yes I then ran the registry scanner roflmao and deleted the files that ccleaner thought unneeded or unwanted. This is where my Windows 7 software fault was caused as far as I can make out, I was instructed by "the mekanic" as "This sounds like malware.

Search "Read & Run Me First"..." and so I read through and was running the tests and I saw the post that says not to run the registry scanner :drool

thankyou guys so much I really appreciate your inputs and thoughts it has made the difference, I have also now removed the new-ish graphics card I had bought as now my windows is running properly I have sourced the switching off fault to that, it has some power issues I think and so I am looking for a new one.

Thanks again I will be recommending you (as always) to anyone I deem worthy or in need :dancer:dancer:dancer:dancer:dancer:dancer:dancer:dancer:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate:celebrate
