hi...i have problem... Slow Internet Surfing

    hi...i am a newcomer here....i have recently formatted my computer...but after that net browsing has become painfully slow...plz advise on how can i get the speed back...i use Windows XP...Intel P 4 processor...

    And was it faster before reformat? Are you using any programs like Mcafee site advisor or AVG's link scanner, these can slow down browsing speed. See this Microsoft article on IE7 settings and tweaks.

    If you upgraded to IE8, there have been a lot of complaints. I installed IE8 but without any of the blog features, accelerators, toolbars, smart screen filter, etc. In other words it behaves like IE7 and I have no problems with any websites.

    Per the article, be sure to try IE without add ons.

    After you reinstalled windows, did you also install the service packs and the windows updates? Did you check the website of your manufacturer to see if there were updated drivers for the NIC?

    How do you access the internet? (dialup, cable, dsl, satellite) and what browser do you use?
