    Hello again... rolleyes
I've just been Hi-jacked again & found a start menu hi-jack key in the reg.
It was dropped in just after I'd finished reading up on PG2's legacy... I left the page, turned off PG2 & then closed my browser... that's when it kicked in.
It's gone now but I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do to stop or reduce the amount of hack's.
I keep seeing the name "Hi-jack This", is it an appropriate tool?

HiJackThis is a very good tool in the right hands - if it's renamed before use, it can prove very worthwile - but so can SpyBot if you know how to use it fully.

Surf only with Firefox and the NoScript/WOT/LinkExtend addins, use SpywareBlaster and Spybot to immunise your system and OpenDNS to filter your DNS calls. Use KeyScrambler Personal or Neo’s SafeKeys 2008 to protect you from keyloggers.

EDIT: NEVER click a link you're uncertain of, test it by copying the link and pasting it into your browser or Notepad before deciding - if it's different to the way it looked originally, beware ...

Cheer's Satrow, I'm off to have a look now. :)

I've already got a key scrambler running & last time I ran "Spybot" it reminded me of STOPzilla a little... (Duplo-brick-lookin'-Scam-ware) Lol.
Will SpywareBlaster immunise & Sort out the DNS alone...? (I'll give that a go).
I've already got FF with a whole heap off add-on's but had a load of greif shortly after using the browser so I reverted back to IE. (flip-flop, flip-flop) rolleyes
I try using it again with NoScript & LinkExtend, I've got the W.O.T add-on.
    (It's gonna' B a L8 1)

    Thank's for the link's. ;)

Hi there. Thank's for the info the other day, I'm using 'bout half a platoon of app.s along-side FF with WOT/NoScript/LinkExtend & so far so good... (long pause) :-D
I'm still not sure about a couple of thing's tho', like... "SpyBot". But then I never gave it long enough when I tried it, everything was going screwy during a Live messenger upgrade on this & my net-book. (still can't find a way to put Xp on a 4GB flash). :(

I'm sure there's a simpler method than these somewhere ...

SpyBot; it's been around a very long time ;) install without the Tea-timer, update, immunise and close it, it'll give protection without running, much like SpywareBlaster does.

Did you sort out the bugs in the Live installs?

Thank's 4 the link's satrow... I've got some homework to do now. :-D
I'll look at "SpyBot" again too. I know it's been around for a long time but I've heard mixed review's on it everywhere... rolleyes That's why I'm goin' back.
I've seen the name "911cd" somewhere B4, something else to look into. :)

As far as the messenger goes everything seems nominal... at the mo.
Still get the odd hijack trying to sneak in but not as much now.
Also, I use RocketDock. But that keeps getting it's nose put out of joint by something & every time I use a right mouse click the icon goes stealth, like Predator. Is that a hijack trademark? :banghead

PG2 stopped working on me too so I'm guessing I'll have to remove & re-install that. I liked it because it ran off a list of what's what & where, but now it seem's to stall near the end of a list gen. (I've tried the repair tool too). :confused
Know any good PG don's? :cool

have you tried peerblock out? it's the same thing, only someone decided to start cleaning up the code and they have a "stable" version 1.0 out now.

Hello thesmokingun, I've got it but I'm at a loss as to why the old PG list's won't update?

It is the original code from PG2, Mark is just working on improvements and bug fixes. I am not sure which lists it isn't updating. When I installed a test version it picked up all the lists from my PG2 install. Maybe head over to Peerblocks forums and pose a question to them. From everything I have seen over there they will get you fixed up. He takes any suggestions and tries to implement them, notice the new layout in the "List Manager" screen.

i don't think the "old" pg2 lists have worked in a while. i've been using iblocklist for a while now.

actually, i haven't used pg2 in a while, since ive installed win7, but i'm gonna take a good look at peerblock now. and last i checked iblocklist has good lists to use
