Hi there! I need a Hero... or a shrink...

I'll know once this post is replied to!!
First, I want to thank all of you for being a #1 resource for me for the past year. I've not posted as although I love learning as much as I can, I'm quite ignorant in comparision to the rest of you!
My computer has been acting weird. The this weekend the screen went blank as my son clicked on a "no" option to download something. There was a box on the screen that said MS detected "MyDoom" virus. Another box came up asking if we wanted MS to remove it. We clicked yes ;( and I had to manually unplug the machine to get it restarted.
Since then, my delete file list is increasing. I'm quite aware of this because I was doing some snooping on my love! SO, within the files I'm snooping, not only did I find 2 chat accounts with script that's encrypted from a purposely loaded encryption tool, I also found something called Payload.exe wayyy back in the font file of Netmeeting.
Now, I just loaded the new language tool from MS site (thanks to Julies post and for a quick sec the cmd screen popped up and it said deleting backupfiles on the screen as well as on my taskbar. Is my snooping giving me an active imagination, or do I have something in my machine?
I thank anyone in advance who can help me, or at least give me E.R. advice, such as, should I not turn off the puter,? Should I unplug it?
I've ran Norton a few times, the first time right after the MyDoom box, I had to uncheck sys file exclusion, and ran the removal tool twice, then the sys file exclusion was on again today!!! I've since changed all my account passwords. Also, I can't get into some files, although I'm administrator. ???

Windows XP, I have the disk...

And I do believe I could back up important data. I have some cd's, and know how to use them!
