Find out the recommended hardwire requirements are for each of the games you play from here:
    https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri
    Base your choice on that.

I can already run everything thanks, i'm looking to upgrade.

lol just checked prey on that site it says i don't meet any of the specs but I've played the game through on high settings twice without any problems.

If you currently have the recommended, or greater, system requirements (not the 'minimum') for every game you play, then good luck with that but I don't see why you would want or need that upgrade.
But your answer indicates you don't have that recommended minimum. So the same answer applies
As for brands of hardware - read multiple online recent reviews and make your choice.

Well according to that site i don't have min specs for prey, but i do and i can and have played the game on high settings with no problems,
that site suggests upgrading my entire system which i do not need to do,
i do not need nor want or can afford to upgrade my entire system,

i came here for help on what i should upgrade next,
not to be directed to websites that are no good or told to search the web myself for stuff to upgrade.

Upgrading should be based on need, and apart from anyone here saying 'xxxxx graphics card is great!' you wont get any more useful recommendations than you will on multiple reputable online review sites. You should have already done that research anyway. You're here for free unpaid advice from other IT users. It's as simple as that. If any advice doesn't impress you, move on.

What is the weakest link limiting the index to 5.9? Still using a magnetic / 7200 rpm hard drive? Consider an ssd?
Will the mb support more memory?

Hi.....the mobo seems to only support sata2 so this would limit an SSD somewhat, but still a good suggestion by Imandy and something to look into as an upgrade!
On the bright side, you still have an extra 2 ram slots you could utilize and perhaps even entertain the possibility of a slight overclock if your case cooling is above average?

This would see your system at its peak of what your able to extract from it!

    Good Luck :)

I don't see a power supply listed. Before installing any new hardware, ensure you have enough power to support it. If a new PSU is needed, buy quality and at least 80 PLUS "Bronze", preferably "Gold".
Not necessarily. Nobody "needs" a "gaming" computer. But if there is a "desire" to upgrade, it should be based on the current weakest link.

IMO, that currently is your disk and perhaps RAM. You already have a high-end graphics card. If me, and I "wanted" to upgrade, I would look at moving to an SSD and perhaps bumping up to 16GB of RAM.

While it is true that motherboard supports only SATA II (3.0 Gbps), it will still run circles around the fastest hard drives connected to the same interface.

That said, that motherboard is getting long in the tooth. It might be best to just save your money and build up your budget for a whole new platform upgrade.

Last, WEI scores are unreliable and misleading. That is why Microsoft, stopped showing them by default.

Thanks all this is the kind of info i was after :),

think i'll get an ssd drive first for an immediate upgrade then, as i get the money a new case with power unit followed by mainboard then cpu and then i'll probably ask again between graphics and memory in about a years time :).
no good at saving something always pops up to spend the money on so i buy a bit at a time then put it all together.

    Thanks again.

I'll suggest as a first start to obtain an external hd and make an image of the current system then put it away somewhere in case any happenings and you need to get your system back. Plenty people here to walk you through what ever you run into. Happy building!

You should plan/budget on buying the RAM memory at the same time you buy the new motherboard and CPU. Current motherboards and CPUs support DDR4 RAM. This means you will not be able to carry over your current DDR3. And that's fine since DDR4 is much better anyway.
