I have hiberfil.sys (300,000 kb) in my Root directory. I think it is something to do with nLite program and creating an ISO file of a cutdown (slipstreamed?) version of XP pro I was setting up. Anyone with any ideas? Can I delete it? Bazza

That file is for when you put your system into hibernation (os writes memory info into that file). Should be safe to delete, or go to Display Properties>Screen Saver>Power>Hibernate>disable hibernation

Thanks elbiatcho1, for the quick reply. I never deliberately put my laptop into hibernation. If I delete it, is it automatically re-created? Maybe just disable it, is the go. Bazza

Thanks halo for a great link. EVERYONE USING XP should read this.
    It really explains it simply.

EVERYONE. You could save up to 1 gig space on your hard drive depending on how much RAM you have on your system. :)

As I don't use "Hibernate" I have deleted that option.
Thanks also to elbiatcho1 for his reply.;) Baz
