Hey guys, I have a user folder in win xp sp2 that is showing up as a hidden and protected system folder and I know this isn't normal. How do I fix this or is there a known virus that's doing this? Virus scan came up clean though. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Re: Hidden user folder

%username% or in this case spleasants. It's just a normal user folder in c:\docume~1\.

What happens if you try and delete it?

    Re: Hidden user folder

I don't know, I haven't tried to delete it when not logged in with that user. I have renamed it successfully. What I did was rename it so I could recreate the folder, but when it rebooted the folder came back as a hidden system folder again. attrib command didn't work either. My original problem with this was that i was getting a security error when opening my docs. I went to c:\docume~1 and found that the user folder was hidden and that I couldn't clear the attribs. What a nasty surprise.

Do you let anyone else use your computer?

If you did not create the profile just delete it. If you have passwords to log on as admin would someone else know them? You should be able to get rid of the account. If you can't then post back. It sounds like someone has been using your rig without you knowing.

No no, that is me and noone else has used it. Have you ever seen this problem? I can't delete it because I need it.
