    Heya,

Why would you want to do that?
I'm a little confused, you are talking about removing system files from windows or just there appearance.
    Maybe I'm misunderstanding something.
Where are the icons located that they are creating an eyesore for you?
Can you post a screen shot so I can see exactly what you are talking about..

i think its more like the annoying icons on w2k's desktop, these can be removed by using start > run > gpedit.msc and finding the relevant entry in the list,
they are not deleted as such, just removed from the desktop,
same for items in the start menu

I understand removing them from the desk top just to clear up clutter, but they indicated they wanted them removed from My Computer, which they wouldn't usually show up until you open the My Computer folder

I am slightly confused as well. If you want to remove them from the Start Menu, click on Start, right click on the bottom part of the menu, click on Properties, click on the Start Menu tab, click on Customize, then click on the Advanced tab. (On XP, Vista is similar.)

Ok sorry for the confusion I should be more thorough, the machine is running xp sp3, when you open my computer from the desktop or start menu it has all my drives c:/ d:/ etc... which I want, but it also has my network places, network connections and printer and file sharing icons which only appeared after networking the computers, I no longer need the network and would prefer if these icons went back to where they should hide control menu, so its just a little cosmetic surgery im after...
