how do you prevent someone from being able to use your

    -address
    -phone number
    -IP

to learn who you are and your history?

Stay off the internet, don't apply for credit cards, don't rent, don't have a job, etc. Basically, I'm pretty sure you can't in today's society.

    Hi

Sadly you dont these days, you can limit the personal data that could be used but if your address and phone number are in a directory then your ID is already out their, can have your number in the UK anyway made x-directory so its not listed, but to make this effective you would have had to do this from the very outset as older directories will have your details still.

ID cloning is a major issue these days, especially as many use social networking sites and just tell the world their daily life ins and outs, post email addresses online in forums etc

If you are subject to some sort of ID theft then do contact your local authorities.

    yeah, I'm not
I just don't want someone to be able to find me if I call them using my phone or cell phone
and if they know my name or my address I don't want them to be able to connect the two.

    Hi

Thats difficult to do as to be fully effective you would have to stop using a phone and have any traces of your address and phone number removed from all directories, and sadly wouldnt work as older directories will have your details in them.

You could limit this on a phone by using any ID blocks your phone company may have for blocking your number showing in caller ID, so check if your providers have options for this *67 dialed before number is one I vaguely remember.

    LOL
    why stay off the internet?
credit cards dont care what you call yourself as long as your Social works, I have cards that are examples of this
    I don't rent
Jobs? well depends what you do?

simply as I said, I dont want my address connected to my name

I got my phone switched to another name cause "I'm moved",.. as long as the bill gets paid they don't care.

lol...I didn't realize you only wanted to text someone anonymously. ;)

If you use any of those other things, someone can always use them to find you.

Btw, couldn't you just buy a prepaid phone? I"m sure they don't have names associated with the call (well, not sure, but I would think they could anonymous)

no, that's not all I want to do, I explained what I wanted to do in post 4

so someone finding me isnt the issue as much as I don't want to make it easy to find me,

I removed my call back number for texting, that was just an example of the basic ways to stay off the grid, cos I'm not hiding from credit card companies or the cops, just your average fat/dumb american
