hiding a disk drive

I have a client who needs to hook up a covert CCTV camera in his office due to dicey HR issues.

I have located a PC webcam that has a built-in microSD slot for self contained motion-activated recording.

By "upgrading" the old webcams with this one, it would allow me to hide them in plain sight.

The caveat is I would have to mask the existence of whatever drive letter Windows assigns to the SD card. If someone clicks on "My Computer" and finds a mysterious "G" drive, they could access it and view the fact they're being spied on.

Is there a way to hide the existence of the SD card (drive) so it does not show up in the directory? The PCs are running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

I'm not sure how it works with NTFS vs FAT...but with NTFS you can click properties (on the whole drive) and set the sharing permissions to whoever you want to like yourself...no sharing.
You can also play with regular permissions. Make yourself an owner of the drive and allow access only to yourself and System...
Then You can even deny changing permissions and/or ownership but that is a risky thing. denying takes the precedence of everything else.
I have never done this on FAT...simply because there are no security streams and every and each folder/file is set to "Everyone" plus I don't keep anything sensitive on FAT drives

There are 2 utilities known to me that can do the job for you.
    First one is "Folder Guard"
Second one is "Windows 7 Manager" which will restrict access to any drive to the chosen by you user(s), in this case you.

Both "Folder Guard" and "Win 7 manager" are shareware.
Although you can try the trial-ware but no clue if they are fully functional. Anyway you can try them both and then decide

Anything intended for security or recording hr issues that may be legal issues, you should just never allow access to that computer, the ability to log on, or physical access to the box. To easy to tamper with.

Strangley enough I have beentrying to help someone with a recovery partition-- these are often hidden.
There are several software utilities to do this, and the one I used is Partition Wizard - version 7 is now available
    http://majorgeeks.com/Partition_Wizard_Home_Edition_d6175.html
With this tool you can hide a partion , and unhide it when you want to see
As far as I understand you should only have one person allowed to access it, and there should be signs somewhere stating that cctv is in operation
as this would sound a similar operation
If using the card, you would have to ensure that it has been asigned a drive letter, then hide it using the tool. I have not tried using a hidden partition to record to, so I do not know if it can be written to when hidden- I never got that far.
If s/he was to have a seperate hard drive within the computer (some laptops take 2 hard drives, too) then that might work better with the ordinary cam, but, again, without actually testing, I cannot vouch for either system. .:major
