High FPS in CS:S

    Anyone with knowledge on having windows xp media center edition ( i moved here from xp pro) . The fps should be higher seeing as my system specs are

    2.6 intel p4 HT
    1 gig pc 3200
    128mb 9600 pro
    7200rpm 80gig

    im in task manager and i dont really understand parts of it
    commit charge 235M / 2461M <-- whats that mean?
    my CPU usage is at 3-5% pretty much always unless im in cs:s
    24 processes, i just uninstalled norton, im not sure what to do from here , what to download, if anyone could help it would be appreciated

    The best thing you can do is tweak your cs:s settings and your graphics card settings. In addition you can kill any unessasry processes. You won't gain any signifigant fps by swichting from xp media addition form xp pro. your fps will stay the same either os.

    a friend of mine said he has no paging file. it helped him, is it a good idea?? He has 2 gigs of ram also

    its not really a great idea when running a few programs on your computer because if your memory usage goes over your ram alotment your programs will crash. The best thing you can do I would say is to set it to a constant rate. This will eliminate the need for windows to manage the size of it and you will gain preformance. I recomend with 2gigs of ram a 2gig page file or 2056mb size. normally you want to make it double your ram but with 2gigs a 2gig page file is plenty.
