High speed internet question

    Hello, I am new to this site and so far I have to say I LOVE IT. Any way my question is, When roadrunner came out to my house years ago they hooked up an ac adapter to the back of my television in my living room. This ac adapter has a short piece of cable coming out of it and the other end running into a splitter. Does anyone know what the purpose of this is. Thank you so much in advance.
