Highjack This - Missing DLL

I have been trying to download Highjack This on my Windows 98 computer but I get a message saying that it cannot be done because the msvbvm60.dll file is missing. I do not have that file on my Windows XP computer but Highjack This has downloaded and installed successfully. Why should that be? As far I can see from an internet search, the dll file relates to Visual Basic which I thought was a programming utility.

 

Hello Dom. Thanks for the reply. Originally I was actually trying to download and install Spybot Search and Destroy but it would not complete the installation suggesting an error had occured. I then did a System Restore and tried to install it again but then I got a message saying that it could not install because file msvbvm60.dll was missing. I then contacted Spybot and I was asked to install Highjack This and send the result to them but I then got the same error message trying to install Spybot. Brian

Hi Dom. Thanks for that. In the mean time, I have discovered that the missing DLL belongs to a small Microsoft application called Visual Basic Runtime which apparently is needed to run some other applications so after doing a full computer clean out, I installed it with no problem. This in turn has allowed me to install Highjack This. I have performed a scan and sent it to Spybot asking if the problem I had, was caused through not having Visual Basic, expecting the answer yes. I will let you know the result. Brian
