    Hello all :)

I've installed xp pro + sp2 and although there seems to be no problem with the drivers on my configuration, I cannot manage to access my adsl modem. The modem is connected, it's working fine but xp pro gives a network error. I'm posting this at work atm, I have found out in the system info / hardware section that there's a "no PCI driver found error". xp pro must've looked up the driver but hasn't found it, so must've installed another compatible ethernet driver. I have a surecom ethernet card and a geek pro max modem on intel celeron 1000. Used to work fine on the home edition tho. Tried to fix the issue with surecom's own driver cd instead but it was pointless since the software itself also warned me to plug pci into the machine and to carry on... :( I'm all stuck.

Thx in advance for the help *smooches* :)

Thanks for the reply but I don't think that my major problem is related to the driver, but to the network settings instead. I've found out that the ethernet card is working fine on PCI slot 3 and that my modem is also connected but aint accessible on my machine :( xp's network might require a manual ip and dns stuffs I'm really stuck and dunno how to fix that. Another example to my issue is that I type http://10.0.0.2 to the address bar of the browser and it displays a not found error instead of asking for the admin username and a passw. (for the adsl router) like it actually should do.

Are you sure it's connected properly to the router?
Also try both cards in another pci slot and see if the problem persists.

On the ip settings, if you go to control panel, network connections, right click the local area connection item, properties and then a menu should come up. Click on internet protocol and then properties. Both the IP address and DNS server should be set to automatically obtain.

ahh changing the slot of the ethernet card makes sense, I'll give it a try once I'm back home tonite :S and yes, all are set to automatically obtain.

I'll get back if nothing works, thank you for the reply =)))

well, I've changed the slot but it did not work again. I had to format hd and reinstall xp home again and it connected in no time =(( I want to upgrade to xp pro tho. A friend told me that it might be the windows firewall, since the ver. I had installed was xp pro + sp2. dunno tho, I must fix this somehow..
