    I have read and followed the instructions for the "how to: spyware, trojan, and virus removal". Still continual registry changes, browser changes, etc... and of course plenty of pop ups. I run my business from my computer and this is killing me here.

    I have HJT v. 1.99.01 and could sure use some help.

    Sincerely,
    Heffe

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the ZIP file as your backups will not be safely stored.

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifBefore running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifRun HijackThis and save your log file.

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next post. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post as it will be removed).

    Are you familiar with Belkin?

    Please look in Add or Remove Programs for the following and Uninstall them if found:

    WeatherBug

    Please print out these instructions so that you can operate with All Browser Windows CLOSED.

    Please make sure System Restore is OFF and the Viewing of Hidden Files & Folders is Enabled as per the tutorial.

    Now, look in Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) for the following running processes and, if you see any of them, try to END them:

    TeaTimer.exe <-- End this because it will interfere with this fix.

    sysui32.exe

    msjs.exe

    Now scan with HijackThis and Check the Boxes for the following:

    Make sure All Browser Windows are Closed when you Click FIX.

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ms101.mysearch.com/sa/srchlft.html
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://hsremove.com/done.htm
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank

    R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

    O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [sysui32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysui32.exe

    O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\PROGRA~1\AWS\WEATHE~1\Weather.exe (HKCU)

    O15 - Trusted Zone: http://in53.b-l-n.com
    O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.bankofamerica.com
    O15 - Trusted Zone: http://www.foxnews.com

    O23 - Service: Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper ( 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\wingz.exe (file missing)

    Again, make sure All Browser Windows are Closed when you Click FIX.

    NOW:
    Please boot into Safe Mode with the Viewing of Hidden Files & Folders Enabled and navigate to and DELETE the following if they should remain:

    C:\Program Files\AWS ←–– Delete this whole folder if it exist!

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\sysui32.exe

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\msjs.exe

    NEXT:
    Run CCleaner

    Then, as an added precaution, Go to Start > Run and type: cleanmgr and then click OK. Make sure the boxes for these are checked:
    Temporary Files
    Temporary Internet Files
    Recycle Bin

    And Click OK.

    Reboot to Normal Windows , Scan with HijackThis and attach the new log.

    Additionally, Belkin is a company that produces connection solutions. In my case it is a serial (COM) to USB for my PDA (Palm)

    Thanks for your help thus far. I still have the applications HomeSearchAssistant and ShoppingWizard listed in the Add/Remove apps control panel - of course I can't remove them :)

    Also, still getting reports from SpyBot etc. of CoolWWW as well as Favourites being added. . . some unsavory, some (30) in a folder called "sites about" which range from casinos to drugs.

    Also just found in the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Unistall/SW/UninstalString ... same for SearchExtender - both coming from www.lookfor.cc

    I'm feeling like there is still some underlying funk floating around.

    Navigate to the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

    Delete anything that links to what your talking about.

    Now, Download & Run CWShredder 2.14
    (Note: Click FIX instead scan)

    Have removed the registry material, and have run CW shreader numerous times today (and again now)... it has never found anything... but currently spysweeper is going crazy warning me that sysui32 and ntyf32 are waiting in the wings. I click delete and bam, 3 seconds later its back. Remove them from the runonce registry by hand, bam their back as have been about 40 other differently name versions.... they just keep regenerating.

    Now spybot is encountering values being added to the search bar, serch assistant, homepage changes to ms101.mysearch.com/sa/

    Norton is telling me that I have Gator plugins in the downloaded programs folder (which is empty) and I have also run their Gator Fix it and it is finding nothing. I did remove a number of .zip files in the Sun folder which were infected troj. which automatically downloaded from webpages in the past week or so.... :(

    Download and install Microsoft® Windows AntiSpyware during the install make sure you get any updates.

    Please make sure ALL Browser Windows are Closed and do not open a browser again until requested.

    Now BOOT into Safe Mode!

    Now allow the Microsoft Antispyware program to run a full scan. After it completes, reboot again in normal boot mode and continue to attach a current HJT log.

    What do you mean by that, what is Spybot doing? What OS are you running?

    XP home

    Spybot S&D is coming up every 10 seconds with 6 idententical warnings (each time) in succession:
    Browser Page
    Change Value
    Search Page
    from msm
    to google;

    Browser Page
    Value Added
    Search Bar
    About Blank;

    Browser Page
    Value Added
    Search Assistant
    About Blank;

    Browser Page
    Value Changed
    Local Page
    to %systemroot%/system32/blank.htm;

    Browser Page
    Value Added
    Search Bar
    ms101.mysearch.com/sa/crchlft.html;

    Browser Page
    Value Changed
    Start Page

    This has been going on for about 15 minutes and seems to really start going if I pull open Webroot's SpySweeper
