HIS Radeon 5770 ATI Card Issues with Windows 7 64bit

Hey, I just upgraded to windows 7 and put it in a freshly built custom pc. Running Asus Maximus Formula MB with ATI RAdeon 5770 video card and E8400 intel duo core processor.

I am having issues when I download the new driver from the ATI website which was released 10.13.2009 so its pretty new driver. But, when I got to test benchmark or even test performance in a game I notice that my FPS will be really high and then all of a sudden it will drop and remain that way. I am not sure if thats suppose to be like that. But for example

I have a copy of FEAR and run everything on Max settings and go to test mode and all my FPS are well above 100 fps and then in the middle of it all the FPS will drop to 30-40 fps and will remain that way even when I restart it. Even my benchmark I would get a score of 60,000 and then run another test and hit 45,000 so something weird is going on and I've tried to turn off the driver detection through windows to see if that works. But, at this point I am so confused Im about to sell this new video card and get an nvidia card.

 

Is this the driver you downloaded, it says it's for windows 7 ?

If it is try deleting the driver and downloading again (they sometimes get corrupted during download )

 

Yea I made sure it was for windows 7 and tried downloading it again many times like at least 4 times to be sure. I tried uninstalling the whole thing, reinstalling it, and I notice when I have a fresh install the FPS will be high for about a 1 minute into testing the benchmark and then it will drop and remain that way everytime. So I am not sure whats going on in between the benchmark to cause this but nothing else is running when I test.

 

Have you tried lowering the settings?
