I'm currently looking through the Official Hijack This Tutorial and I'm trying to get some sort of understanding on how to use HJT myself, and the questions I have now are just for confirmation on wheter I can fix some files in HJT.

    these are for now:

    [info from Sysinfo.org]

Name or Startup Item Status Command or Data Description
soundman ..................N.............soundman.exe ... System Tray icon for the Realtek AC97 Audio Sound Manager for AC97 onboard audio. Available via Start -> Settings-> Control Panel
LWBMOUSE ................U.............MOUSE32A.EXE .. Mouse driver - required if you use non-standard Windows driver features
ATI DeviceDetect ....... N.............ATIDtct.EXE ...... Utility meant for future use of the ATI TV WONDER USB 2.0 video driver and can be disabled

Non-malware topics do not belong in the malware forum. Using HJT as a tool remove other startup entries is really not a malware question although we do sometimes get wrapped up in providing some steps like this while removing malware and to help improve performance. In reality we prefer that tune-up stuff like this to improve startup time be handled elsewhere (like the Software Forum). We are too busy here fixing malware to start getting into tweaking everyones PC for them. Everyone needs to understand what they install and run on their PCs and should be responsible for deciding what to allow to startup and what not to allow.

You can get more help about startup processes from the below links! From this info, you need to decide if the process is something you need or do not need. All you need to understand the downsides of removing the startup. No one else can truly decide what software you need or like with asking you for each item.

No one except you and authorized malware helpers can post in your thread in the Malware Forum! That applies to everyone posting messages in this forum. You cannot post in another users thread. Give it a try and see what happens.

Yes! Moved to the Software Forum. The redirect from Malware will disappear in a day or so.
