I just built my new computer and wanted to overclock it just a little bit (from 1.8 to 2.0) but when I did, the CPU temp went from about 43C to 52C. Any advice on how I can cool it down so I could push it a little more? I read some reviews on this processor and some people had it pushed to 2.6-2.8 with stock heatsink and were only at about 45C. I just don't get it... Anyways, any help or information at all would greatly be appreciated. Here are my specs:

    -AMD Opteron 165 Denmark 1.8GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Dual Core Processor
    -OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI ATX12V 700W Power Supply 100 - 240 V
    -2X - (SLI) - EVGA 256-P2-N615-TX GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card
    -G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
    -ABIT AN8 32X Motherboard - ATX - nForce4 SLI - Socket 939
    -Antec Nine Hundred computer case

if you're set on using the stock cooler then make sure its clean and free of dust. you may want to reapply the thermal paste as well. Personally, id invest in a nice aftermarket cooler

Oh ok thanks a bunch guys! :) Seems like its going to be tough to take off the heatsink with that thermal compound already dried though... confused

the old heatsink should come off pretty easily . . . just don't go overboard with reapplying new thermal grease/paste/compound - see this thread for details.
