hmmm i think i made a boo boo

    hi and thanks in advance

    i seem to have deleted my hard drive!!!

    any suggestions would be gratfully received

    Hmmm...

    You've made no indication what you would like to do.
    You've posted no system specs.
    You've not told us what the problem really is.
    You haven't told us what you were doing when the problem arose.

    Please address these issues so we can better assist you.

    sorry this laptops made me braindead...................

    its a IPC laptop
    xp home edition
    512mb

    dont really know much more!

    i used this cd from pc beginners which was a complete CON it said it was compatable with xp but once it had deleted everything it wouldnt fix it as it wasnt compatable.



    i tried to boot up from windows xp cd as i understood it would install hard drive aswell but when setup completes it says no hard drive found

    i was wondering where id go from here

    Please open control panel, and double click administrative tools. Double click computer management. In the window that appears, click disk management, and tell us what you see listed there.

    Or you could go to www.bootdisk.com, make a bootdisk (even one for WIN98 would work) and try fdisk from the command line.

    These methods will tell us about how your hard drive is partitioned.

    If this fails, open you BIOS and examine what you have listed for HDDs.

    hi

    well i cant open control panel etc as i cant boot up

    in the bios i have no primary master no floppy drive and the secondary is CD-W24E

    thanks


    also i have a boot cd here but when i run fdisk it says no fixed disks present

    Is your BIOS set to autodetect hard drives?

    Your HDD could be fubar but I have no idea how a CD could have done that.

    That confuses me. :confused:

    Are you comfortable opening the machine to ensure that the HDD connectors haven't come loose?
