My computer, once in awhile, crashes about 2/3rds of the way through youtube videos (or embedded videos). If I run the same video after the computer boots back up, it plays through, so far with no further problem.

When the computer crashes it gives an immediate blue screen with a lot of information that I would like to look at, but I don't remember how to get the setting which causes the computer to hold on blue screen?

Right Click on 'My Computer', select Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings.
    Uncheck 'Automatically restart'
If it's already configured to write a Small memory dump, you should be able to find the existing dumps in C:\Windows\Minidump, unless you've got something like CCleaner configured to delete the dump files.

That should never happen; can you check if there is a newer device driver available for your display adapter?

Of course once you get the info from the BSOD, you will know more.

    Hi pwillener

sorry, what is the device driver for my display adapter? Is that the driver that goes with the monitor? What is the display adapter? (not sure what I'm looking for)

    thanks, pwillener, I'll try this.

In the meantime, I've been able to write down the numbers associated with the blue screen error. I didn't know how to copy them off the screen except with a pen:

    STOP: 0x0000008F (0xC0....5, 0xBF606F43, 0xF779B928, 0x0......0) ativvaxx.dll - Address B606F48 base at BF55C000 Datestamp 4b0c99c6

    STOP: 0x0000008F (0xC0....5, 0xBF55D232, 0xA35D5B0c, 0x0......0) ativvaxx.dll - Address BF55D232 base at BF55C000 Datestamp 4b0c99c6

When I looked up the numbers, I found an article which concurs with your own assessment that it's probably the graphics driver.
