Home Edition upgrade

Hey I have a computer with XP Home edition with SP2 that came with it. I need to upgrade the computer to XP Professional. But the disc I have is XP Professional with SP1. So, logically it prompts me that I have a newer version of windows because of the SP2 that came with the machine. I cannot uninstall SP2 because it came with the machine. It's not on the add remove programs list, and it doesn't have a hidden sp uninstall file. What I did was loaded SP2 over top the existing one hoping it will create the hidden uninstall file so that we can remove it. Any ideas?

 

Well...its always better to clean install. However if you are adamant on the upgrade, you will need to slipstream XP Pro and SP2 before upgrading. You can then upgrade from it copied to your hard drive or by burning it back to CD.
